Robert Hiam, HMSA. Mr. Hiam is the President and
Chief Executive Officer of the Hawaii Medical Services
Association (HMSA), which is a Blue Cross/Blue Shield
affiliated insurer and Hawaii’s largest health care
plan. Mr. Hiam holds the Board seat elected by Tissue
Genesis Series A Preferred shareholders. He has extensive experience
in the medical insurance industry and advises Tissue
Genesis on issues regarding reimbursements, healthcare
costs and industry strategies. Mr. Hiam has served
as Chairman and/or Director of Blue Cross and Blue
Shield Association, Western Conference of Prepaid
Medical Service Plans, Aloha United Way, The Blood
Bank of Hawaii, Children’s Discovery Center, D.A.R.E
Hawaii, Hawaii Business Roundtable, Hawaii Employers
Council and Pacific Health Research Institute.

Michael Ruley. Michael Ruley holds the Board seat elected by the Series B Preferred shareholders. He brings to the Board extensive experience in business and corporate finance. Mr. Ruley had served as the Chief Executive Officer of Hawaiian Telcom, an independent telecommunications company based in Honolulu, Hawaii, providing wireline, wireless, long distance, yellow pages. Mr. Ruley had also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of NextiraOne, and in several senior positions at XO Communications and Teleport Communications Group. He serves as a trustee for the Hawaii Pacific University, a director of the Blood Bank of Hawaii, Child and Family Service, Hawaii Business Roundtable, USS Missouri Memorial Association, Inc. and the United States Telecom Association, and he is a member of the Japan-Hawaii Economic Council, Hawaii Asia Pacific Association, Young President’s Organization International and the Executive Committee of USTelecom.

Jeff Watanabe, Esq., Watanabe Ing Kawashima &
Komeiji, LLP. Mr. Watanabe has been the managing partner
of his well known law firm in Honolulu, Hawaii, since
1970. Besides providing Tissue Genesis with a firm
that offers a broad spectrum of legal advisors, Mr.
Watanabe is a significant business and community leader
in the Pacific. He serves as director for Alexander
& Baldwin, Inc., American Savings Bank, First
Insurance company of Hawaii, Ltd., Grace Pacific Corporation
and Affiliates, Hawaiian Electric company, Inc., Hawaiian
Electric Industries, Inc., Loea Communications Corporation,
Matson Navigation company, Inc., Mid-Week Printing,
Inc./Oahu Publications, Inc. (The Honolulu Star Bulletin),
Oceanic Time-Warner Cable, and The Westye Group. He
also serves as a director and/or trustee for numerous
non profit organizations locally and nationally.
William P. Wiesmann, M.D., BioStar, Tissue Genesis
Co-Founder & Chief Science Officer. Dr. Wiesmann
has extensive tissue engineering, scientific, management,
military and government expertise, including formation
of R&D partnerships and teaming agreements between
government, industry, and academic laboratories, as
well as directing multi-million dollar programs for
DARPA, NASA, and the Army Medical Research and Material
Command. Dr. Wiesmann enjoyed a lengthy military career,
during which he served as the Director for Combat
Casualty Care at the U.S. Army Medical Research and
Material Command Post at Ft. Detrick and earned the
rank of full colonel. Dr. Wiesmann is the Chairman
of the Scientific Advisory Board of the National Tissue
Engineering Center (NTEC), serves on the Board of
Trustees at Harvey Mudd College in California and
is a member of the University of Southern California
(USC) Engineering School Board of Councilors.

Expert Advisors: Scientific Advisory Council
Tissue Genesis’ Scientific Advisory Council is comprised
of world class scientists in the field of bioengineering,
cell therapy and tissue engineering. They provide
critical scientific insight and consultation to Tissue
Genesis’ projects to assist in problem resolution
pathways and solutions. The group lends institutional
knowledge and expertise to our project leaders to
insure science and project objectives are met.
Robert G. Dennis, Ph.D. Dr. Dennis is an Associate
Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an Adjunct Professor
of Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering
and Surgery (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery)
at the University of Michigan. Dr. Dennis is a recognized
expert in the design of cell culture biochamber systems
and instrumentation for functional tissue engineering
of cardiovascular and musculoskeletal tissues.
Kenton Gregory, M.D. Dr. Gregory is a practicing
invasive cardiologist and is the Director of the Oregon
Medical Laser Center at Providence St. Vincent Medical
Center in Portland, Oregon. He serves as an Assistant
Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University
and is recognized as an expert in elastin and cardiovascular
laser welding technologies. He obtained his Doctor
of Medicine degree and an undergraduate degree in
Engineering from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Gregory is one of the founders of Tissue Genesis,
Inc.
Keiki Pua-Dancil, Ph.D. Dr. Dancil has five years
of industry experience with a successful Hawaii technology
company, Trex Hawaii. During that time, she was extensively
involved in building and sustaining their biosensor
program by co-authoring grants, proposals, and several
patents. She has nine years of research and development
experience in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry,
bioconjugate chemistry, material science, and biotechnology.
Dr. Dancil received her Ph.D. from the University
of California-San Diego and is expected to receive
her MBA from Harvard University in 2006.

transactions. In addition, Tissue Genesis has built a

Anton C. Krucky, Co-Founder, Director, President
and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Krucky brings to
Tissue Genesis decades of management that include
product development, marketing, and sales experience
in a global company, IBM. Prior to leaving IBM, he
held several senior management positions including
General Manager of Operations for IBM in the Pacific.
Mr. Krucky has consulted to and invested in small
and emerging technology businesses, and has personally
owned several small businesses. He serves on the Boards
of major corporations in the State of Hawaii that
include Servco Pacific, in addition to key non-profit
medical and healthcare Boards that include the University
of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine and the
Pacific Health Research Institute. Mr. Krucky supports
numerous community organizations and is an established
business leader in Hawaii, bringing valuable contacts
and relationships to TGI.

Thomas F. Cannon, Co-Founder, Director, Vice President
and General Manager. Mr. Cannon is a co-inventor of
the Bio-Optimization System, a co-founder of Tissue
Genesis and the former President/founder of Bio-Optima.
As a former program manager and space hardware developer
for the highly successful Cell Culture Module (CCM)
experiments series for NASA, Department of Defense,
and NIH, he pioneered early versions of the BOS systems
fourteen Space Shuttle missions in the 1990’s. He
has extensive experience working with military hospitals,
and has an established network of government contacts,
medical contacts and bioengineering industry connections.
Mr. Cannon is responsible for bringing together key
technology assets and relationships with technology
providers, leading researchers, and end users to TGI.

Bradley S. Perkins, Senior Vice President, Administration
and General Counsel. Mr. Perkins has been the Vice
President and General Counsel of a number of Silicon
Valley companies, including Valence Technology, Mission
West Properties, Alliance Semiconductor, and Hyperion
Solutions Corporation (acting). He was also a member
of the legal departments of Xerox Corporation, Hewlett-Packard
company, Ampex Corporation and VLSI Technology, and
was counsel to Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel.
Mr. Perkins is responsible for all legal and intellectual
property issues, as well as the company’s administrative
functions. He has a BSE in electrical engineering
from Duke University, and a Juris Doctorate from the
McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific,
and is registered to practice in Hawaii, California,
and before the United States Patent and Trademark
Office.

Rex Chang, M.D., Director of Business Development. Dr. Chang has expertise and training in the life sciences and healthcare sectors. Prior to joining Tissue Genesis, Dr. Chang consulted in the healthcare sector in emerging markets and did many years of legal work for global life science companies. Dr. Chang is a trained attorney, and physician. Dr. Chang received his J.D. degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law at UC Berkeley, and his M.D. degree from New York University’s School of Medicine, where he also trained in Radiology. Dr. Chang also earned an accelerated M.B.A. degree from U.S.C.’s Marshall School of Business. Dr. Chang earned his undergraduate degree in biology at The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Chang is licensed to practice law in California and New York.

Kerry Nagai, Director of Fiance. Ms. Nagai is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Hawaii, but not currently in the practice of public accountancy. She was previously an audit manager and professional development director at Deloitte and Touche LLP and specialized in the government, public, and insurance sectors. She also worked for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc., the State of Hawaii Office of the Auditor, and the Board of Education. Ms. Nagai is responsible for managing the finance and accounting department and the financial reporting for the Company. She has a BBA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Science and Technology Development Team

Stuart Williams, Ph.D., Chief Science Officer. Dr. Williams is Scientific Director of the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is recognized internationally as an expert in vascular biology and vascular tissue engineering, and is a leader in endothelial cell isolation technology. He developed and patented the technique of isolating human endothelial cells and pluripotent stem cells from fat tissue obtained through liposuctions, currently licensed by Tissue Genesis through Thomas Jefferson University.

Gary D. Gentzkow, M.D., Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Gentzkow heads the company’s efforts to move its research programs in adipose (fat) derived cells into clinical studies. Dr. Gentzkow’s has 30 years experience developing new medical therapies – pharmaceutical, medical devices, biological and cellular. For the past 20 years, Dr. Gentzkow’s research has focused on cellular therapies, including engineered human tissues, a field in which he has lectured and published extensively. This work has focused on wound healing and cardiovascular regeneration and repair, and he has been a consultant to companies developing these new technologies. From 1992 to 2006, at Advanced Tissue Sciences and Smith & Nephew, Dr. Gentzkow headed the clinical research programs for the tissue-engineered human tissues, Dermagraft® and TransCyte®, dermal tissues approved for diabetic foot ulcers and burns respectively. He also participated in research programs on cartilage, blood vessels, and cardiovascular regeneration. Dr. Gentzkow is also the CMO for Theregen, Inc., conducting clinical studies utilizing this tissue-engineered human tissue technology, under the name of Anginera™, for cardiac regeneration. Additionally, his work has included clinical studies on antiarrhythmic drugs, fibroblast growth factor for venous stasis and diabetic ulcers, and electrical stimulation for healing pressure ulcers. He has published numerous articles and presented extensively in the field of wound healing and cardiovascular medicine around the world. Dr. Gentzkow received his A.B. degree cum laude from Harvard University and earned his M.D. degree from the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center and trained in Internal Medicine.

Paul Kosnik, Ph.D., Vice President of Engineering and Principal Investigator. Dr. Kosnik is Tissue Genesis’ Principal Investigator
for Federal Grants and leads the Tissue Genesis team
in innovations of proprietary intellectual property.
His research and development efforts have been focused
on tissue engineering and biochamber design, specifically
hardware, software and instrumentation that emulate
in vivo environments for medical applications of cell
and tissue culture products. He has received four
patents in the fields of tissue engineering and biochamber
design and has authored five peer-reviewed manuscripts
and three book chapters on functional tissue engineering.
Dr. Kosnik is a member of the Tissue Engineering Society
International and the International Society for Cellular
Therapy. He serves as an adjunct assistant professor
at Brown University, a visiting scientist in the Harvard-MIT
Division of Human Sciences and Technology and is a
member of the External Advisory Board for the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Gene Boland, Ph.D., Principal Scientist. Dr. Boland has an extensive background in cardiovascular
tissue engineering and biomimicking materials as well
as mammalian cell physiology. Prior to joining Tissue
Genesis, he served as the Principal Investigator and
lead technical scientist for tissue engineering, biomaterials
and cell physiology projects in two start up biotech
companies, Resodyn Corp in Butte, Montana and NanoMatrix
in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of several important
teams in the implantable medical device industry at
Cryolife, Inc., Cordis, and St. Jude Medical, Inc.
– Heart Valve Division. Dr. Boland received his PhD
in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth
University and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical
Engineering from Marquette University. He has won
awards in the field of bioengineering and authored
or co-authored numerous publications in the field.

Kevin Lye, M.D., Senior Scientist. Dr. Lye leads the efforts of Tissue Genesis to develop the product interface and methodology for clinicians—from varied disciplines—who use the company's technology. Exploration of, and application to, new fields of use also play a large role in his responsibilities. Dr. Lye comes to Tissue Genesis with ten years of experience in post-graduate training, including a research fellowship at Yale University. He has authored or co-authored over 25 publications on topics including novel therapies for carcinoid disease, refrozen botulinum toxin efficacy, abdominal wound closure devices, and gastric stem cells. Dr. Lye has been privileged to have previously worked in the laboratories of James D. Otvos, Ph.D., founder of LipoMed, Inc.; Louis Argenta, M.D., inventor of negative pressure wound therapy devices used worldwide to heal complex wounds; and Irvin M. Modlin, M.D., Ph.D., a widely renowned innovator and director of the Gastric Pathobiology Research Group at Yale. He has been an invited speaker to multiple international conferences, and over 60 presentations relating to his research projects have been made around the world in various venues. After receiving his undergraduate degrees summa cum laude from North Carolina State University, including B.S. degrees in mathematics, biochemistry, and biological sciences, as well as a B.A. in chemistry, Dr. Lye earned his M.D. degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

H. Joon Paek, Ph.D., Scientist. Dr. Paek is an expert in cell
replacement therapy for diabetes and cartilage degeneration.
He will lead the company’s research and development
in regenerative cell-based medicine, with special
focus on ligaments and diabetes. He received his Ph.D.
in Biology from Brown University, a Masters of Engineering
in Polymer Chemistry from Kyoto University in Japan,
and his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the
College of William and Mary.

Michelle Stein, Ph.D., Scientist. Dr. Stein, with expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry focuses on technical writing and biomedical research toward our vascular and ligament project efforts. Dr. Stein received her PhD in biomedical science from the Medical University of South Carolina and Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has held such appointments as Visiting Scholar at University of California, San Diego as well as an Adjunct Faculty position at Coastal Carolina University. She is currently a member of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) and the International Fat Applied Technology Society (IFATS).
